The first series of AmBIENCe webinars were held 11- 29 June. Marialaura Di Somma (ENEA), Nilufar Neyestani (INESC TEC) and Lieven Vanstraelen (Energinvest) presented the enablers and barriers of Active EPC to possible stakeholders including ESCOs, DSOs/TSOs, aggregators, EPC project facilitators, policy-makers and anyone interested in new concepts for energy performance contracting.

Webinar | Enablers and barriers for the Active Building EPC: Regulatory aspects
Speaker: Marialaura Di Somma, Research Engineer at ENEA

On June 11, Marialaura D Somma, from ENEA, presented the regulatory enablers and barriers for the Active Building EPC. The EU regulatory framework and vision are analysed, by focusing the attention on the most recent developments and policies putting citizens at the centre of the energy system as active consumers and promoting demand flexibility as a crucial element to foster the energy transition.
The analysis at Member States level looks at what are the main enablers and barriers in the regulatory framework to foster the deployment of the concepts and business models proposed in AmBIENCe to combine savings from energy efficiency measures and the active control of assets enabling the use of flexibility in buildings.

Webinar | Enablers and barriers for the Active Building EPC: Flexibility aspect
Speaker: Nilufar Neyestani, Senior Researcher at INESC TEC

On June 18, Nilufar Neyestani, from INESC TEC, presented the technical enablers and barriers of Active Building Energy Performance Contracting with a focus on flexibility aspects. The factors that affect considering the flexibility as a recourse and its valorization were discussed. This webinar presented the current findings from AmBIENCe project which shows how turning buildings into Active Buildings and adopting Active Building EPC can increase the energy efficiency and energy performance of a building.

Webinar | Enablers and barriers for the Active Building EPC: Flexibility aspect
Speaker: Nilufar Neyestani, Senior Researcher at INESC TEC

On June 29, Lieven Vanstraelen, from Energinvest, presented early findings on the development of the business concept and model, as well as new insights on the roles of the market actors. This includes the results from a stakeholder survey of both flexibility requestors (typically DSOs/TSOs) and flexibility providers (typically ESCOs). It also included early results from a desktop study on business models, market actor’s roles and specifically on Measurement and Verification (M&V) for the new AEPC model. In addition to the presentations, there were interaction with participants, through polling, a discussion with stakeholders and a Q&A session.

This event is powered by the Energy Days Initiative organised every year by the European Commission within the scope of the Sustainable Energy Week. Organised by local public and private organisations, Energy Days are activities and events that promote a clean energy transition.
